Alabama earns another win over top 25 team, beating No. 15 Texas A&M, 63-62

Retin Obasohan scored 16 points and host Alabama survived a big rally from No. 15 Texas A&M for a 63-62 victory Wednesday night, the Aggies’ third straight loss.

The Crimson Tide (14-9, 5-6 Southeastern Conference) beat its fourth ranked opponent of Avery Johnson’s debut season despite missing its final three shots. Anthony Collins was fouled on a drive with 2.3 seconds left but missed both free throws for the Aggies (18-6, 7-4). They’ve dropped four consecutive SEC games since a 7-0 league start, tumbling from a program-best No. 5 ranking.

Texas A&M had its chances after wiping out most of an 11-point deficit over the final 6:34.

Riley Norris had 11 points for Alabama and Shannon Hale scored 10. Obasohan had five assists and three steals. It’s the first time Alabama has beaten four top 25 teams in a regular season since 2001-02.

Jalen Jones had 21 points and seven rebounds for Texas A&M. Danuel House overcame a slow start to score 12 points, and Collins finished with 11 points and five assists.

at Texas Tech 85, No. 14 Iowa State 82 (OT): Zach Smith made two free throws with 18 seconds remaining in overtime to lead the Red Raiders (14-9, 4-7 Big 12) past the Cyclones (17-7, 6-5), who lost in Lubbock for the second year in a row.

Tulsa 82, at No. 16 Southern Methodist 77: Shaquille Harrison had 21 points, Pat Birt hit a crucial three-pointer and scored 12 of his 17 points after halftime and the Golden Hurricane (16-8, 8-4 American Athletic) dealt the Mustangs (20-3, 9-3) their first home loss in 13 games this season.

at Marquette 96, No. 20 Providence 91 (2OT): Jajuan Johnson scored 16 points and hit a key three-point shot with 1:16 left in double overtime and the Golden Eagles (16-9, 5-7 Big East) beat the Friars (18-7, 6-6). Henry Ellenson added 26 points and 16 rebounds for Marquette. Ben Benti scored 42 points and had 12 rebounds for Providence, which lost its third game in a row.

No. 21 Baylor 82, at Kansas State 72: Al Freeman scored 21 points and the Bears (18-6, 7-4 Big 12) led nearly the whole way against the Wildcats (14-10, 3-8).
