And on Sunday morning, all smiles.

Zack Greinke went seven innings and picked up the win Saturday without his elbow causing him added trouble, and on Sunday all was good.

Manager Don Mattingly said before Greinke’s start that the key to his sore elbow would be not so much how he performed Saturday than how it responded Sunday.

“I feel good,” Greinke said.

After Saturday’s outing, Greinke said the elbow hadn’t actually bothered him so much while he was pitching as it did between starts. He had been held back two days to give the elbow some additional rest, but said he is ready to take his next turn.

Encouraged by the Sunday update, Mattingly said he could now move forward trying to line up his rotation. Hyun-Jin Ryu (strained buttock) is scheduled to come off the disabled list Friday.

Greinke “said he came out of it pretty well,” Mattingly said. “From this point, we’ll start moving forward to make plans about what we’re going to do with the rotation.”

The Dodgers are off Monday and Thursday next week, so Mattingly has great flexibility in lining up the rotation. Roberto Hernandez and Clayton Kershaw are scheduled to start Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, in Arizona. After that, Mattingly said he was uncertain who would start Friday in San Diego.

The Dodgers have three games left in the middle of September with the second-place Giants and Mattingly said he will give some consideration to how the rotation would line up in San Francisco. The Giants are also at Dodger Stadium for three games in the season’s final week.

“We’re always trying to line up with San Francisco, so that will have something to do with it,” he said.
