Dodgers fall in blowout loss to Rockies, 16-2

AT THE PLATE: With Hanley Ramirez out of the lineup for a second consecutive game because of a strained elbow, the Dodgers were shut down by starter Jorge De La Rosa, who limited them to two hits over six scoreless innings. The Dodgers didn’t score until the eighth inning, when Darwin Barney hit a home run against Rob Scahill. Manager Don Mattingly said Ramirez felt better than Tuesday and sounded hopeful the shortstop could return to the lineup for the Dodgers’ upcoming series against the Chicago Cubs.

ON THE MOUND: Starter Carlos Frias gave up eight runs and 10 hits in two-thirds of an inning. Frias became the first major league pitcher in modern baseball to give up 10 hits without recording three outs. Kevin Correia pitched three innings and gave up six runs and seven hits.

ON THE FARM: The Dodgers will have new triple-A and double-A affiliates next season. They have purchased the Oklahoma City RedHawks, who will be their triple-A team. They also reached a two-year agreement with the Tulsa Drillers to be their double-A club. The Dodgers also announced they will continue their partnerships with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga and Great Lakes through at least 2016.
