Justin Simpson and his older brother, Aaron, used to be ball boys for Long Beach Poly when their father, Sean, was an assistant football coach for two championship teams.

Last weekend, Justin, a receiver and three-year starter at shortstop for the El Modena baseball team, got to celebrate his own football championship, helping his team defeat Don Lugo 35-7 in the Southern Section Division 7 final.

Now El Modena is in the CIF state regional bowl playoffs. The team hosts Steele Canyon on Saturday.
