After Kobe Bryant tore his left Achilles’ tendon in April of 2013, he reached out to soccer star David Beckham for advice.

Beckham suffered a similar injury in 2010, but was able to play again after a scant five months.

Now Bryant is paying it forward, advising Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall, who ruptured his Achilles’ on Sunday in a 37-34 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

“He was probably the most notable guy that I remember having an Achilles’ injury and coming back,” Hall said to CBSDC. “He said the same thing our trainer [did]. Just be patient with it. It’s going to feel like you can push. It’s going to feel like you can do some things. But the best thing for that is to not do anything. Be as patient as possible.”

Bryant sat out from April to December and six games into his return sustained a knee fracture that cost him the remainder of the 2013-14 season.

Hall will miss the remainder of the year.

“I’m not a spring chicken, so I’ve got to make sure I get [surgery] done the right way,” the 30-year-old Hall told reporters on Sunday. “Got to be as patient with it as possible.”

While he’s friends with Hall, Bryant is well-known for being a die-hard Eagles fan.

Bryant and the Lakers are set to open camp next week. The All-Star guard is believed to be fully recovered from the Achilles’ tendon and knee injuries.
