Terrence Jones comes through for the Pelicans

Terrence Jones filled in brilliantly for the injured Anthony Davis, scoring a season-high 36 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and blocking LeBron James’ dunk attempt in the fourth quarter, and the host New Orleans Pelicans beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, 124-122, on Monday night.

Jrue Holiday had 33 points and 10 assists for the Pelicans, and Langston Galloway capped a 12-point effort with a steal on James’ drive in the final minute, preventing the Cavaliers from erasing a deficit they had trimmed from 22 points late in the first half to three with 1 minute 32 seconds to play.

Kyrie Irving scored 49 points for the Cavaliers, and James had 26 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.

at Miami 105, Golden State 102: Dion Waiters’ three-point basket with 0.6 seconds left capped his 33-point effort, and the Heat ended the Warriors’ winning streak at seven games. Golden State’s Kevin Durant tied the score with a dunk with 11.7 seconds left.

at Milwaukee 127, Houston 114: Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 31 points, Jabari Parker had 28 and the Bucks ended a skid at five games. Antetokounmpo scored nine points in the final 4:16. James Harden had 26 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds for the Rockets.

San Antonio 112, at Brooklyn 86: Patty Mills scored 20 points and the Spurs rolled while playing without Kawhi Leonard and three other regulars. San Antonio turned the game into a blowout with a 39-point third quarter.

Oklahoma City 97, at Utah 95: Russell Westbrook scored with 1.4 seconds left and the Thunder stopped the Jazz’s winning streak at six games. Westbrook scored 11 of the Thunder’s final 13 points and finished with 38 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

New York 109, at Indiana 103: Carmelo Anthony scored 26 points and broke a tie with 23.4 seconds left to give the Knicks their first victory at Indiana since March 2012.

Sacramento 109, at Detroit 104: DeMarcus Cousins had 22 points and 14 rebounds, and the Kings ended a losing streak at five games. Andre Drummond had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Pistons.

Washington 109, at Charlotte 99: John Wall had 24 points, Markieff Morris scored 23 points and the Wizards won for the fifth time in six games. Kemba Walker had 21 points for the Hornets.
