Defensive tackle Michael Brockers signed a three-year contract extension that will keep him with the Rams through 2019.

Terms were not disclosed.

Brockers, 25, was the 14th pick in the 2012 NFL draft. In April 2015, the Rams picked up his fifth-year option and he is earning $6.15 million this season, according to spotrac.com.

“My agent called me maybe a couple weeks back, saying, ‘We’re getting close,’” Brockers said. “I told him, ‘That’s great. Don’t call me till it’s done.’ And that’s what we did.

“I’m just thankful and blessed.”

The 6-foot-5, 326-pound Brockers is noted for his run-stopping skills. He also has 14 1/2 sacks in his career. Last season, he recorded 12 tackles for loss.

Brockers had two tackles against the 49ers. He did not practice Wednesday because of a thigh issue and was limited Thursday.

“He creates opportunities for everybody else and every so often he makes a big play himself,” Fisher said. “He’s been consistent week in, week out, he’s changed his body since his arrival, overcame some early career injuries and has just been one of those guys you can count on.”

Brockers is the second Rams player in the last few weeks to agree to an extension. Receiver Tavon Austin, the eighth pick in the 2013 draft, recently signed a four-year extension.

Middle linebacker Alec Ogletree, the 30th player selected in the 2013 draft, also is thought to be in line for an extension.

“That will come when it comes,” Ogletree said. “Our focus is on the Seahawks and getting ready for this game.

“I have an agent for that. When they want to talk, they’ll talk to my agent and go from there.”
