Pharoh Cooper was not going to drop another pass near the end zone.

During the Rams’ first exhibition game against the Dallas Cowboys, the rookie receiver failed to hang on to an impressive throw over the middle from rookie quarterback Jared Goff.

Cooper said he did not lose sleep over the drop, but he acknowledged that it was a topic of conversation.

“Me and Jared were talking about it all the rest of the game on the sideline,” Cooper said, adding, “We both know we should make that play, and we can make that play eventually when it comes up again.”

The situation was different last week against the Kansas City Chiefs.

With Case Keenum at quarterback, Cooper got open on the left side, caught a pass and dived at the end zone pylon. His first Rams reception went for a touchdown.

“It was a great feeling,” Cooper said.

Cooper has been targeted four times in the two exhibitions. He is expected to get more opportunities on Saturday night when the Rams play an exhibition at Denver.

Cooper sounded certain that he would be ready if he gets another pass over the middle from Goff.

“It was good to learn from it,” he said, adding, “We’ll definitely connect on that play again.”
