Angels shortstop Erick Aybar was not in the lineup Saturday against the Seattle Mariners because of a left-hamstring strain he sustained the night before.

Aybar said he was available to play if needed and expected to start Sunday.

“That’s the plan,” he said.

Aybar sat out two games in late May because of hamstring tightness in the same leg.

“It’s not quite the same spot,” Manager Mike Scioscia said. “But hamstrings … they just have a mind of their own and you have to really pay attention to them.

“Erick’s very durable but there’s a limit and you want to make sure that he stays above that line where you’re not at risk of losing some appreciable time.”

Taylor Featherston started in place of Aybar.
