Braxton Miller done for season, Ohio State confirms

Ohio State released a statement Tuesday afternoon confirming that quarterback Braxton Miller will miss the season because of a shoulder injury.

Miller re-injured his surgically repaired right shoulder while throwing a pass at Monday’s practice. It will require another surgery.

Miller said in a statement he plans on returning for a fifth season.

“I love Ohio State and Buckeye nation, and my goal is to come back from this injury stronger and better than ever,” Miller said. “I am on course to graduate in December and I want to attend graduate school, and then return to lead the Buckeyes next season.”

Miller said he will support his teammates as they “chase a championship this season.”

Miller accounted for 36 total touchdowns last season in leading Ohio State to a 12-2 finish. The Buckeyes were considered a national title contender this year.

Freshman J.T. Barrett is expected to replace Miller at quarterback this year.

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said in a statement: “This is an unfortunate injury to a young man who means so much to this program and to Buckeye nation.”
