Galaxy forward Giovani dos Santos has been called up by the Mexican national team ahead of the Oct. 10 CONCACAF playoff with the U.S. at the Rose Bowl.

The winner of that game will represent the region in the 2017 Confederations Cup, an important dress rehearsal for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Dos Santos’ call-up follows last month’s snub when interim Coach Ricardo Ferretti left him off the roster for friendlies with Trinidad and Tobago and Argentina.

Dos Santos, 26, has won three CONCACAF Gold Cups, a U-17 World Cup and an Olympic title with Mexico. For the Galaxy he’s played in seven Major League Soccer games, scoring three times and adding four assists.

Joining Dos Santos on the Mexican roster is brother Jonathan, a midfielder who plays for Villarreal in Spain’s La Liga, and forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez of Germany’s Bayer Leverkusen.

Curiously, Ferretti also selected defender Rafa Marquez and midfielder Andres Guardado, both former national team captains who are dealing with injuries. The Mexican roster, which numbers 25 players, must be trimmed to 23 Monday.

Mexico’s roster by position (with club team in parentheses):
