Jake Peavy, San Francisco Giants reportedly agree on two-year deal
It appears Jake Peavy is becoming a mainstay in San Francisco.
Peavy has agreed to a two-year, $24-million contract with the San Francisco Giants, the Associated Press reported Friday. As part of the deal, Peavy will receive a $4 million signing bonus. He is set to make $7 million next season and $13 million in 2006.
Peavy won a World Series title with the Boston Red Sox in 2013. He won another World Series with the Giants last season after the Red Sox traded him to San Francisco in July.
The 33-year-old right-hander posted a 7-13 record with a 3.73 earned-run average last season. With the Giants, Peavy went 6-4 with a 2.17 ERA.
Signing the 2007 National League Cy Young award winner would give San Francisco more stability in its starting rotation. Behind World Series hero Madison Bumgarner, the Giants will be relying on Peavy and veteran Tim Hudson for plenty of innings in 2015.
Matt Cain and Yusemiro Petit likely will round out the rotation unless the Giants decide to re-sign Ryan Vogelsong.
