Defenseman Jeff Schultz, who played seven playoff games during the Kings’ run to their second Stanley Cup title in three seasons, is among the 52 names submitted by the Kings to be engraved on the Stanley Cup. However, the names of Colin Fraser, who played 33 regular-season games, Linden Vey, who played in 18 regular-season games, and Andrew Campbell, who played in three regular-season games, were not included.

Also missing was the name of co-owner Ed Roski, Jr. Kings spokesman Mike Altieri said Roski was “one of a number of individuals that were on in 2012 that agreed to come off so that others could have the opportunity.”

Those whose names were included in 2012 but relinquished the privilege this time also include Rob Laird, the Kings’ senior pro scout, and Ted Fikre, chief legal and development officer of AEG, the Kings’ parent company.

The Kings had 53 names listed for their 2011-12 championship team. They initially omitted Roski, but he was later added by the NHL, which must approve the list. There was some controversy in 2012 when they left off Andrei Loktionov in favor of Kevin Westgarth and Davis Drewiske.

For players to have their name on the Cup, they must have played 41 regular-season games or one game in the Stanley Cup Final. However, teams can petition to include players who didn’t meet that criteria because of injuries or other factors.

Here’s the full list submitted by the Kings:

Players: Dustin Brown, Jeff Carter, Kyle Clifford, Drew Doughty, Marian Gaborik, Matthew Greene, Martin Jones, Dwight King, Anze Kopitar, Trevor Lewis, Alec Martinez, Willie Mitchell, Jake Muzzin, Jordan Nolan, Tanner Pearson, Jonathan Quick, Robyn Regehr, Michael Richards, Jeff Schultz, Jarret Stoll, Tyler Toffoli, Slava Voynov, Justin Williams.

The Cup is scheduled to be engraved starting next Thursday in Montreal.

“I wish we had 100 names, because frankly, there are 100 people that are deserving of having their name on the Cup,” said Beckerman, who was part of the group that decided the list.

Of those who voluntarily withdrew their names, Beckerman said, “We’re all about teamwork, and that was a selfless act from a number of team players.”
