Why is Russell Wilson the third-highest paid QB on Seattle’s roster?

Russell Wilson is a Super Bowl champion.

He’s the face of the Seattle Seahawks.

He’s a superstar who has endorsement deals with Nike, EA Sports and Levi’s, to name a few.

And he is now the third-highest paid quarterback on the Seahawks’ roster.

On Monday, Seattle traded for former Oakland Raiders starter Terrelle Pryor, who is set to make $705,000 next season. He will compete for the No. 2 quarterback spot with Tavaris Jackson, who will earn $1.25 million.

Wilson is locked in next year for $662,434 -- and there’s nothing anyone can do about it because rookie contracts cannot be renegotiated until after the player’s third season.

That’s next year for Wilson. And you better believe this odd little financial fluke is going to be wiped away by a monster contract as soon as both sides can make it happen.
