Tim Tebow trade to Jets could be in jeopardy, report says

The Denver Broncos trade of Tim Tebow to the New York Jets for fourth- and sixth-round draft picks could be in jeopardy, according to a report by Adam Shefter of ESPN.

Tebow has $5 million worth of recapture language in his contract, meaning that the Jets would have to pay money back to the Broncos.

The report also says the Jets might not be willing to pay that stiff price, but are still working on completing the deal. If not, the deal could be nullified.

The report also says the St. Louis Rams might still be interested in making a deal for Tebow if he becomes available again.

Tebow’s base salaries for the next few seasons are very cap friendly: $1.942 million in 2012, $2.266 million in 2013 and $2.590 million in 2014.

Although the unorthodox QB energized the Broncos with a series of fourth-quarter comebacks last season, Tebow’s messy mechanics and flawed footwork led to accuracy issues. And with his eagerness to run, he’s hardly the prototypical pocket passer.

The Broncos changed their offense mid-season to fit his unique skill set, dusting off the option offense, and it revitalized them as they soared to the top of the NFL rushing charts. But their passing game remained stuck in neutral as Tebow completed just 46% of his throws.
