Trump turns down offer to throw ceremonial first pitch for the Nationals
Reports that President Trump might throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Washington Nationals on Opening Day turned out to be fake news.
Actually, a report Tuesday from Politico that the Nationals offered the president that opportunity appears to have been true.
But a Nationals spokesperson told reporters later Tuesday that Trump has declined the team’s offer to take part in the festivities when it opens the regular season Monday against the Miami Marlins “due to a scheduling conflict.”
Had Trump accepted, he would have been the 14th U.S. president to toss out a first pitch for a Washington-area Major League Baseball team.
