USC Coach Steve Sarkisian hollered at his team during warmups to play physically during Saturday’s scrimmage on Brian Kennedy-Howard Jones Field.

At least half of the players listened.

Sarkisian said after the scrimmage that he was “very impressed” with the defense.

The offense left something to be desired.

Junior linebacker Michael Hutchings intercepted a pass from quarterback Max Browne and freshman linebacker Porter Gustin sacked Browne for a safety.

On offense, tailback Tre Madden and receiver Isaac Whitney each fumbled.

USC is scheduled to continue practice on Tuesday. Fall semester classes start Monday.

When asked to evaluate the two-week training camp, Sarkisian said, “I wish we had two more.”
