USC (4-0) is off to its best start since the 2000-01 season, but it hasn’t had a win over a ranked team since Feb. 27, 2013.

The Wichita State Shockers (2-1), who have appeared in four consecutive NCAA tournaments and made a regional semifinal last season, are ranked No. 20 in both major polls.

The teams meet at 11 a.m. PST Thursday at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.

Ron Baker, an All-American candidate for the Shockers, is averaging 20.3 points a game. Fred VanVleet, another All-American candidate, is expected to sit out because of a hamstring injury.
