Update: USC is 5-0. Santa Barbara is 0-4, among the losses were games against Nebraska-Omaha and Southern Methodist, teams USC defeated. The Trojans victory over SMU came Friday, as Benny Boatright returned to form by scoring a game-high 17 points. Boatright was making his third start since returning from a partially torn labrum and back spasms. In the first two starts, he shot five for 24. USC has been balanced in scoring, with six players averaging at least 9.8 points per game. Against SMU, Anthony Melton came off the bench to score 15 points and reserve Jonah Mathews added 14 points. This is the second consecutive season USC has opened by winning its first five games.
