Boys’ basketball: Fairfax guard Ethan Anderson is sidelined with knee injury

Share

Fairfax will have to play at least the next two weeks without sophomore guard Ethan Anderson, who was injured during the Lions’ victory over Westchester on Wednesday, his father confirmed on Thursday.

After two weeks, he will have his knee further evaluated by his doctor.

Anderson suffered his injury in the first half but played most of the second half of the 60-57 victory over Westchester.

Fairfax is 16-1 and 4-0 in the Western League. The Lions just got back Robert McRae, who had been sidelined with a broken hand. But Anderson will miss tough games against Bishop Montgomery on Jan. 28 and probably Santa Margarita on Feb. 4.

The big question will be whether he can return for the Westchester rematch on Feb. 10 and the City Section playoffs.

Fairfax has added guard depth with the addition of Shawn Booker and Ronald Mitchell since Jan. 2. But Anderson has been a key player on offense, defense and rebounding, so his absence will be challenging to overcome.

Fairfax will play its first game without Anderson on Friday against Palisades.
