City Section moves its track prelims and finals to Cerritos College
For more than 30 years, the City Section has been holding its track and field finals at Birmingham High School.
But that won’t happen this year. The City Section has decided to hold its prelims and finals on May 21 and May 28 at Cerritos College, which also hosts the Southern Section finals and Masters Meet.
John Aguirre, the City Section commissioner, said complaints from some coaches of always having to travel to the San Fernando Valley led to trying out Cerritos College, which has a terrific track and field facility but is far away from lots of schools in the section.
This is going to be an experiment in which it’s going to be interesting to see the reaction from coaches, parents and participants.
