Football: Another Fotheringham is making a name for himself
When Newhall Hart was producing All-CIF quarterbacks in the 1980s, 6-foot-6 Chad Fotheringham got to play the position as a senior even though his best position supposedly was tight end. Then he became a top quarterback at the junior college level and played at Pacific in 1995.
Now he’s got a 6-4, 215-pound son, Cole, who’s a junior tight end at San Clemente.
Fotheringham has a 4.0 grade-point average, is the junior class president and figures to be a sought-after college prospect next season. He has 34 receptions for 380 yards and five touchdowns for 8-1 San Clemente.
And he’s got the Fotheringham genes, as in being tall.
His father still can probably throw a spiral or two.
