Football: Pac-12 championship game is shaping up as battle of SoCal players

Share

USC and UCLA won’t be in the Pac-12 championship game on Friday night, but lots of players from Southern California will provide plenty of representation playing for Washington and Colorado at Levi’s Stadium in the Bay Area.

It’s almost going to be a reunion of Chaminade players. Jojo McIntosh, Brayden Lenius and Jordan Chin are on Washington’s roster. Rick Gamboa, Chris Bounds and Donovan Lee play for Colorado. All are former Chaminade players.

Washington is loaded with SoCal products, from starting receivers John Ross (Long Beach Jordan) and Dante Pettis (JSerra) to linebackers D.J. Beavers (Crespi) and Keishawn Bierria (Narbonne) to running back Lavon Coleman (Lompoc). There’s lineman Coleman Shelton (Loyola) and John Turner (Loyola) and many more.

Colorado has receivers Shay Fields (St. John Bosco), Devin Ross (Alemany) and Bryce Bobo (Charter Oak), lineman Aaron Haigler (Sherman Oaks Notre Dame), defensive back Tedric Thompson (Valencia) and plenty of others.

If they took a photo afterward of all the SoCal products for the two teams, it would be pretty impressive.
