A CeeLo Circus

Share

Has there ever been a more natural pairing than CeeLo Green and Las Vegas? The flamboyant singer and TV star has brought his trademark blend of smooth vocals and showmanship — to say nothing of his outrageous wardrobe — to Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. It’s called “CeeLo Green is Loberace,” an over-the-top blast of sound and color that will blow you away.

The superstar has fashioned a raucous spectacle that takes his audience on a white-knuckle ride through musical decades, paying tribute to everyone from Prince to the Rolling Stones to that flashiest of Vegas showmen, Liberace.

But music is just one element of this three-ring CeeLo circus. The sequin-drenched multimedia extravaganza incorporates everything from sexy showgirls to mind-blowing magic acts.

Purely the brainchild of CeeLo, “Loberace” marks another new direction for the entertainer, following a busy 2012 that saw him continue his role as mentor/judge on the hit NBC singing competition “The Voice.”

“I am very fortunate to have Planet Hollywood as a partner, allowing me to further extend and embellish on the brand that is CeeLo Green,” the performer said. “Planet Hollywood was established by fellow artists, actors, entertainers — my peers — and they’ve proven to know a thing or two about the art of being an entrepreneur.”

The Vegas show is a natural progression in CeeLo’s rapid ascent as a multigenre pop culture mainstay. After breaking out with the No. 1 Gnarles Barkley hit “Crazy” in 2006 with deejay-producer Danger Mouse, CeeLo went solo for the 2010 album “The Lady Killer,” which featured the ubiquitous single “Forget You,” a smash hit that received five Grammy nominations, winning for “Best Urban/Alternative Performance.”

Another single, “Fool for You,” won two Grammys in 2012.

Hollywood is next up for CeeLo: He has a role in the upcoming film “Can a Song Save Your Life?” alongside Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.

“CeeLo Green is Loberace” continues through April 13 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights at 11 and Saturdays at midnight in Planet Hollywood’s stadium showroom. Tickets range from $54.50 to $154.50 for table seating.
