Megan Judson and Nate Vereb

Share

Megan Judson and Nate Vereb had been good friends since 2008, when they were classmates at Buena High School in Ventura. But after graduation, Judson had taken off for Brigham Young University in Utah.

When she came home that summer, their friendship slowly grew into a romance. The problem was, summer was ending and Judson was leaving for the Ukraine to teach English before returning to school in Utah.

Judson was adamant that they break it off to avoid heartbreak. They decided to talk it out, he said, “and the next thing you know we were kissing.”

The following summer, they picked up where they’d left off until Judson had to leave again — this time for China — then back to BYU. Both of them decided it would never work (again) — but that didn’t work either.
Vereb proposed in August 2010 and Judson moved back to Southern California in April. She’s studying speech pathology at Cal State Northridge and working part-time as a nanny. Vereb, a land surveyor, is also majoring in business at Ventura College.

Judson and Vereb, both 22, were married — twice — on August 27. The first ceremony took place at the Mormon Temple in Los Angeles with only immediate family attending. Later, before 300 friends and family, the couple wed again on the grounds of the century-old Cate School in Carpinteria.
