Get those skis out: Early snowfall adding up at Mammoth, other California resorts

October was kind to Central and Northern California resorts. One Lake Tahoe resort is already open, and the Eastern Sierra’s Mammoth Mountain received 18 inches over the weekend, giving it a 36-inch base at higher elevations.

Meanwhile, popular Mountain High, usually the first resort to open in Southern California, has been running snow-making operations and could start spinning the lifts before its planned mid-November debut.

Here’s a look at some opening dates around the state:

Mammoth: Nov. 10

June Mountain: Dec. 10

Mountain High: Mid-November (could be earlier with favorable weather conditions)

Snow Summit and Bear Mountain: Nov. 24-27 (weather permitting) and Dec. 2-3, then daily beginning Dec. 9.

Snow Valley: Nov. 18 (weather permitting)

Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe: Monday (Oct. 31)

Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows: Nov. 11

Heavenly Mountain Resort: Nov. 18

Kirkwood Mountain Resort: Nov. 18

Homewood Mountain Resort: Dec. 9
