Catch peak wildflower season on a small-ship cruise of Canada’s west coast
Modern Canada turns 150 this year, and Maple Leaf Adventures is teaming up with the Royal Canadian Geographic Society to offer a small-ship cruise that explores British Columbia’s west coast and Pacific history.
The trip to the network of coastal waterways called the Salish Sea is set for April during peak spring wildflower and wildlife season. Participants will have opportunities to see whales and other marine mammals.
The itinerary highlights remote and historic islands as well as the original Salish stories behind the place names. Guides include naturalists and historians, including First Nations elder Florence James. Participants will sail aboard either the Swell, an 88-foot converted tug, or the Maple Leaf, a 92-foot schooner.
The cruise departs from and returns to Victoria, British Columbia.
Dates: April 15-19
Price: From $1,780 to $2,890 per person. Includes shipboard accommmodations, all meals, beer and wine, shore excursions and use of gear, including kayaks. If booked by Feb. 15, the trip includes a free return flight to Vancouver or a free hotel night.
