Soft rockers Air Supply hope to find love in Las Vegas

Australian soft-rockers Air Supply are all out of love, so maybe a return to The Orleans Showroom for three shows over Labor Day weekend will help them find it. The duo take the stage on Sept. 4, 5 and 6.

Englishman Graham Russell and Australian Russell Hitchcock performed together in the 1975 Australian production of the musical, “Jesus Christ Superstar” and formed their group Air Supply shortly after.

Success didn’t come fast for the group. Russell claimed in a 1995 DVD that they were so poor, they’d check the couches in the back of theaters for change to make bread. But in 1979, they released a five-and-a-half minute version of “Lost in Love” on their concept album “Life Support” that hit No. 13 in Australia. Clive Davis of Arista Records heard the song and remixed it the following year.

Once Air Supply signed with Arista Records in 1980, their album “Lost in Love” came out with three U.S. top five singles, including the title track, which was the fastest-selling single in the world, “Every Woman in the World,” and “All Out of Love.”

Over the next three years, Air Supply produced hits including “Just Another Woman,” “The One That You Love,” “Here I Am,” “Sweet Dreams,” “Even The Nights Are Better” and “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard charts in 1983.

Most recently, Air Supply released “Mumbo Jumbo” in May 2010, and the single “Sanctuary” in December 2011.

The duo’s career includes 30 albums and more than 15 hit singles.

Tickets start at $39.95.
