David Alan Grier, Tommy Davidson return to the stage in July

Relive the ’90s sketch comedy show “In Living Color” when comedians David Alan Grier and Tommy Davidson split the stage at Treasure Island on Friday, July 24.

Grier has already been dubbed one of Comedy Central’s “100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time.” His career kicked off on Broadway as Jackie Robinson in “The First,” which earned him a nomination for a Tony Award. He joined the cast of “Dreamgirls” before starring opposite Denzel Washington in “A Soldier’s Play” and the film adaptation, “A Soldier’s Story.”

Grier performs on the large and small screens in comedic and dramatic roles in “A Different World,” “Jumanji,” “The Woodsman,” “Crank Yankers,” “DAG,” “Life with Bonnie,” “Boomerang,” “Bones” and, of course, “In Living Color.”

He’s no stranger to Broadway, earning his third Tony nomination in 2012 for his role as “Sporting Life” in “Porgy and Bess.” He recently starred opposite Kerry Washington and Craig Robinson in “Peeples,” and in the upcoming NBC comedy series “The Charmichael Show.”

Davidson earned a following in Washington, D.C., before hitting the road as the opening act for Patti LaBelle, Kenny G and Luther Vandross. He moved to Hollywood to headline at comedy clubs, which led to a starring role in “Partners in Crime” and his audition for “In Living Color.”

Davidson also had recurring roles on “The Bernie Mac Show,” “Martin” and “Malcom and Eddie” and provided the voice of “Oscar Proud” in the Disney animated series “The Proud Family.”

He hosted “The NFL Show” and recorded three Showtime specials: “On Strength of New York,” “Illin’ in Philly” and “Takin’ it to DC.” His film work includes Spike Lee’s “Bamboozled,” “Juwanna Mann,” “Booty Call” and the cult classic “Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls.”
