One of the most influential singers and songwriters of a generation comes to The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Sunday, Oct. 11. Neil Young and Promise of the Real plan to perform some of Young’s newest material as well as his classic hits.

The Canadian singer released his first album in 1968 to launch his solo career, now spanning more than 47 years and 35 studio albums.

Young started playing music in junior high school and performed in a number of bands over the years, experimenting with electronic rock, country folk music and Motown. He’s bounced into bands such as Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young as well as his own group Crazy Horse.

Some of his biggest songs include “Rockin’ In The Free World,” “Heart of Gold,” “Southern Cross,” “Ohio” (about the Kent State shootings in 1970), “Old Man” and “Cinnamon Girl.”

The singer was diagnosed with a brain aneurism in 2005 but continued recording and writing music during his recovery. Since then, Young has released two installments of his Archives series followed by his memoir, “Waging Heavy Peace: A Hippie Dream.”

Young released his latest album, “The Monsanto Years,” inspired by his passion for environmental causes, in 2015. The album features Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson, sons of singer-songwriter Willie Nelson, on vocals and guitars.

The show promises solo acoustic, full-band acoustic, rock jams and more.

Tickets start at $65 and go on sale on Friday, Aug. 28.
