The smooth harmonies of The Temptations return to Las Vegas in September

Sing along to hits such as “My Girl” and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” when Motown group The Temptations returns to The Orleans Showroom on Sept. 19 and 20.

Original member Otis Williams joins Bruce Williamson, Terry Weeks, Ron Tyson and Joe Herndon to bring back the group’s catalog of songs along with those iconic choreographed moves and coordinating outfits.

The quintet pioneered a new movement in popular music when they joined Berry Gordy’s original Motown machine in Detroit in the early ‘60s. In 1964, they scored their first major hit with the Smokey Robinson-penned and -produced “The Way You Do the Things You Do.”

From there, the hits kept coming. “It’s Growing,” “Since I Lost My Baby,” “Get Ready,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Beauty Is Only Skin Deep” and “I Wish It Would Rain” followed and propelled the group to superstardom. Everyone was doing “The Temptation Walk,” a staple of American style, flair, flash and class.

The Temptations changed their tune during the political turmoil of the ‘60s and ‘70s, bringing songs such as “Runaway Child,” “Cloud Nine,” “I Can’t Get Next To You,” and “Psychedelic Shack.”

They appeared on “Motown 25” in 1983, and during the ‘90s chronicled their career with an Emmy Award-winning NBC miniseries.

The group celebrated 50 years in 2010 with the album “Still Here.” In 2012, the group performed on “Dancing With the Stars” as part of Motown Week.
