In rural India, a peaceful break
While in India in January 2004, Travis Pierson, of Los Angeles, came upon an outdoor brick factory in the village of Ramchandrapur. The men molded bricks from mud, and the women carried them to an oven. Using his Canon EOS Elan 7e, Pierson shot this photo of a woman on a break. Pierson, who has traveled to India for work and pleasure, loves the moments of unexpected beauty he finds. "While the poverty in areas like Calcutta can be heartbreaking, the colors and energy are inspiring."
