Former CBS anchor Dan Rather to talk news on Canada-to-Maine cruise
Former “CBS Evening News” anchor Dan Rather will take to the sea this summer to lecture on modern-day journalism during a small-ship cruise from Montreal to Maine.
Rather, 83, will be featured on a Road Scholar trip aboard the MS Saint Laurent from May 28 to June 9. The nonprofit organization, formerly known as Elderhostel, organizes educational trips around the world.
The one-time “60 Minutes” contributor will be featured during an onboard cocktail reception and give two lectures: “Fact vs. Fiction in Journalism: Misinformation & the Internet” and “An Evening With Dan Rather.”
On land, cruise passengers will explore Montreal, learn the history of Nova Scotia and visit the Green Gables farm made famous in the “Anne of Green Gables” novels on Prince Edward Island.
The cruise also stops in ports in Canada in Quebec City, Gaspe and New Brunswick before ending in Portland, Maine.
Prices start at $4,599 per person, based on double occupancy. Enroll by April 15 and you receive round-trip airfare from selected cities and a $250 ship-board credit.
