TSA agent Damien Lawson reaches semifinals on ‘The Voice’

Damien Lawson, the, airport security agent who survived the November 2013 shooting at LAX, has reached the semifinals on “The Voice.”
On Tuesday, Lawson joined singers Taylor John Williams, Chris Jamison, Matt McAndrew and Craig Wayne Boyd as NBC’s “The Voice” searches for a winner among its all-male semifinalists.
Lawson, a native of Monroe, La., now lives in Los Angeles. He has worked for the TSA for nearly a decade. He was upstairs in Terminal 3 last year when a gunman entered the terminal looking for TSA agents to kill. Gerardo Hernandez, a 39-year-old father of two, was shot multiple times. Lawson sang at his memorial service.
Lawson also has performed with the TSA Chorus, a group of employees who sing on their own time. In the December 2012 clip above, the chorus is performing for travelers at LAX around the holidays.
Lawson sings “I Believe I Can Fly,” which he later sang for Hernandez’s memorial.
He is currently on leave from the TSA.
