The Mystery: What happened to "On the Lot?" The Sleuths: Karmacritic.com The Facts: On May 22th, the latest reality show from "Survivor" wiz Mark Burnett and Steven Spielberg debuted following Fox's mega-hit "American Idol." During the audition rounds hosted by Chelsea Handler, 50 contestants were whittled to 24 by judges Carrie Fisher, Garry Marshall and Brett Ratner. The next week Handler was suddenly replaced by Adrianna Costa, six contestants were missing and Brett Ratner was replaced by rotating guest judges. The Theories: Poor ratings no doubt caused some mid-season retooling on the much-hyped show. New host Costa was considered easier on the eyes than Handler and the rotating guest judges allowed big name directors to promote summer blockbusters like "Hostel 2" and "Transformers." Chance of Being Solved: Definite answers would require a thorough post-mortem on the show, assuming anyone's still watching this ratings bottom-dweller by summer's end.
