Water dispute: In the April 6 California section, a photo caption accompanying an article about a lawsuit pitting the San Diego Water Authority against the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California erred in describing the organizations’ dealings. The San Diego authority draws about 50% of its water from the MWD, not from the Imperial Irrigation District. A second caption said that San Diego County has received water managed by the MWD for “more than a decade.” In fact, as the article noted, the San Diego authority joined MWD in the mid-1940s.

George Takei: In the April 7 Calendar section, an article about actor and activist George Takei said that he has 3.5 million Facebook fans and that his musical “Allegiance” premiered in 2013. In fact, he has 8.4 million Facebook likes, and the musical premiered in 2012. Also, a reference to World War II-era Japanese internment camps should have said Japanese American internment camps.

Ira Byock: In the April 6 California section, an article about Dr. Ira Byock’s opposition to “right to die” legislation said that Byock was a former director of palliative medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center at Dartmouth University. The medical center is affiliated with Dartmouth College.
