Year in review: Notable anniversaries of 2013
Assassinations, openings, debuts, repeals -- 2013 was a year of significant anniversaries in politics, architecture, the arts and more in the U.S. Here in Los Angeles, we marked 100 years since the opening of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, the 50th anniversary of the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, the 25th anniversary of the groundbreaking rap album "Straight Outta Compton" by N.W.A and the 10th anniversary of the opening of Walt Disney Concert Hall downtown.

100th anniversary of the Colorado Street Bridge( Los Angeles Times archive )
The Colorado Street Bridge, which spans the Arroyo Seco south of the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, opened 100 years ago on Dec. 13. Above is a panorama of the bridge, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. This image was published in the Dec. 14, 1914, Los Angeles Times. The sky and parts of the background were retouched by a Times artist.
