New school opening

Welcome to South Region Elementary School No. 11, L.A. Unified's newest campus, which opened Nov. 16. Principal Pamela Gray said the school will be renamed after a suitable moniker is chosen. No telling when -- or what -- that will be.

South Region Elementary School No. 11 is L.A. Unified’s newest campus. As district officials look to replace the generic names given to numerous new schools, the process has become political, controversial or just plain wacky.
