Provisions of Proposition 83 The law, passed by voters a year ago: * Prohibits sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of schools, parks, other spots where children gather** Requires felony sex offenders to be monitored electronically for life* Broadens definitions of some sex crimes and increases penalties*Largely because of the residency requirements, the measure is being challenged in various courts, including the California Supreme Court, as unconstitutional.
