LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - MAR. 1, 2017. City officials, contractors and dignitaries held a press conference Wednesday, Mar. 1, 2017, to announce the refurbishment and reopening of the historic Angels Flight railway in downtown L.A. Known as the world's shortest railway, Angels Flight connects the financial district of Bunker Hill with the city's downtown core. Closed since a 2013 derailment, the funicular is ecpected to be up and running by Labor Day 2017, the said Mayor Eric Garcetti. Built in 1901, Angels Flight traverses a 33 percent grade for 315 feet.
