Earthquake: 3.3 quake strikes in Mendocino County

A shallow magnitude 3.3 earthquake was reported Saturday morning eight miles from Laytonville in Northern California’s Mendocino County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 6:44 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 6.2 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 47 miles from Ukiah, Calif., 64 miles from Fortuna, Calif. and 70 miles from Red Bluff, Calif.

In the last 10 days, there have been three earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
