Magnitude 3.0 earthquake strikes near Alturas, Calif.
A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Wednesday evening 38 miles from Alturas, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 9:41 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 9.9 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 98 miles from Susanville, Calif.
In the last 10 days, there have been 72 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby, the USGS said.
