Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes southwest of Chico
A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Saturday morning eight miles from Maxwell, Calif., southweset of Chico, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 5:45 a.m. PST at a depth of 16.2 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 27 miles from Chico, 31 miles from Oroville, 32 miles from South Yuba City and 65 miles from Sacramento.
In the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
