Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Mojave, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Friday evening six miles from Mojave, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 11:06 p.m. at a depth of 4.3 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was nine miles from California City, 15 miles from Tehachapi and 18 miles from Rosamond.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
