Earthquake: 3.3 quake strikes near Borrego Springs, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.3 earthquake was reported Saturday morning six miles from Borrego Springs, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 6:05 a.m. PST at a depth of 6.8 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 24 miles from La Quinta, Calif., 27 miles from Coachella, Calif., and 29 miles from Indio, Calif.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
