Earthquake: 3.3 quake strikes near Joshua Tree

A shallow magnitude 3.3 earthquake was reported Sunday afternoon 6 miles from Joshua Tree, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 1:16 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 4.3 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 8 miles from Yucca Valley, 11 miles from Desert Hot Springs and 16 miles from Twentynine Palms.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
