Earthquake: 3.5 quake strikes near Alturas, Calif.

A shallow-magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported Monday night 24 miles from Alturas, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor occurred at 9 p.m.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 62 miles from Altamont, Ore.; 65 miles from Klamath Falls, Ore.; and 97 miles from Susanville, Calif.

In the last 10 days, one other earthquake magnitude 3.0 or greater was centered nearby.
