Earthquake: 3.5 quake strikes near East Quincy

A shallow magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported Friday morning eight miles from East Quincy, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 7:49 a.m. PST at a depth of 8.7 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 31 miles from Susanville, 45 miles from Magalia and 48 miles from Paradise.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
