A shallow magnitude 4.2 earthquake was reported Sunday evening by the U.S. Geological Survey with an epicenter in Brentwood, just northwest of The Getty Center. The temblor occurred at 7:36 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3 to 4 kilometers, according to Lucy Jones a U.S. Geological Service seismologist.

An hour after the temblor, which was initially reported as a magnitude 3.7, Los Angeles firefighters reported no reports of damage from any stations after a routine post-quake survey.

Jones said that analysis of Sunday night’s quake showed that it was not located in the same zone as aftershocks of a 4.4-magnitude March 17 quake.
