Earthquake: 3.9 quake strikes near Greenville, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.9 earthquake was reported Monday evening six miles from Greenville, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 10:36 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 0 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 27 miles from Susanville, Calif., 37 miles from Magalia, Calif., 41 miles from Paradise, Calif. and 97 miles from Carson City, Nev.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
